Year 7 Transition - Summer work
Dear Students and Families
The English and Maths Departments hope you are well, and we forward to getting to know you when you arrive at The Regis School. We are excited about the chance to work in close partnership with you over the next 7 years, guiding and supporting you through the next stages of your academic journey.
Maths
Over the summer holiday, we would like all our new Year 7 students to complete the maths transition booklet that will be emailed to all parents/carers. You do not need to print the booklet, just write your answers and any working out on a piece of paper. The tasks are designed for you to practise your numeracy skills and to find out about teachers in the maths department at The Regis School before you arrive. Please click here
The answers to the booklet can be found here, along with some extension activities (answers to extension activities can be found HERE) if you would like to challenge yourself further.
Please bring your marked answers in school with you on your first day. Show them to your new maths teacher in exchange for some achievement points, these will be your first of many to come!
If you need any extra guidance or have any questions, please email Leah Carvey (Year 7 Maths Team Leader) on leah.carvey@theregisscghool.co.uk.
English
The English team very much look forward to welcoming you into our classrooms in September. To prepare for this, over the summer holidays we would love all our new Year 7 students to complete the transition booklet which you can find here. This booklet will provide you with lots of excellent reading ideas to help you prepare for you time at The Regis School. Inside you will also find a writing challenge; this is an excellent way for you to show your new teachers all the writing skills you have learned at primary school.
As well as suggested reading lists, the transition booklets contain the following activities:
- A reading challenge-can you read at least three books over the holidays?
- A writing challenge-keep your writing skills alive over the holidays
- Some key spellings to learn and revise for September
- A book cover challenge
Please bring your writing challenge with you to your first English lesson in September. Your teacher will collect them in and there will be prizes for the best ones.
If you need any support or guidance, then email Karen Ward (Team Leader Key Stage 3 English): kward@theregisschool.co.uk
