On Wednesday 24th April, the Science department hosted their third annual Science Fair final. In the six weeks leading up to the Easter holidays, all students in Years 7 and 8 were required to complete a Science Fair project as their homework. The students had to pick a project title which they were interested in and they then had to carry out a practical investigation at home to investigate their scientific question. The week before the Easter holidays, all students in Years 7 and 8 were given the opportunity to showcase their work to the rest of their class and the students and their teacher got to vote on their favourite projects. The top three students from each class were then selected to present their work at the Science Fair final, where we had 30 students from each year showcasing their work.
There was huge variety in the different areas of Science which students chose to investigate ranging from investigating the growth of bacteria in different conditions, to looking at paw preference in animals and students even making their own solar powered phone charger! Students, Teachers, Governors and Senior Leadership got the chance to vote on the best projects from each year.
