Forest School Programme

Forest school is always hugely successful and rewarding for the students we take onto the programme. We are incredibly fortunate that so many can access this provision, for the last 3 weeks we have been working with Year 7 students who joined us initially when they were Year 6. These students have learnt new skills and have become competent in lighting fires, wood splitting, whittling marshmallow sticks and ground clearing. They also opened our first Forest School Café.
Although we use Slindon Woods for forest school, we have started working with a new local Community Farm. Chrimsham Farm very kindly set up a small coppice area for us to use for some of our sessions. They have also had some exciting new arrivals which the forest school students were able to welcome to the Farm.
At the end of the session students are asked to fill a cup with water and to say something they are thankful for or that they have enjoyed from the day our students said the following.
“I really love forest school because I get to be free”
“I love coming to see the pigs and chickens”
“I like having the time to think and see everyone and make the fire”
“I just love all of it”
“I enjoyed all the activities and coming it is really fun.”
