Amazing Apprenticeships

Year 9 students learnt all about Apprenticeships at Chichester College on 4th February. Students took part in a series of challenges based on the popular game show The Crystal Maze, competing against each other to win crystals. They all particularly enjoyed the escape room challenge, with the girl’s team being the eventual winners. The students learnt about the different levels of apprenticeships and found out how to search for and apply for them. They were surprised to find out that there are currently more than 550 job roles you can be an apprentice in, with vacancies available in everything from nursing and social work to aerospace engineering and digital marketing.
The students met some of the current apprentices studying at Chichester College and were served a meal that had been prepared by the catering apprentices. Everyone agreed that the experience had made them think seriously about seeking an apprenticeship when they leave school. Most were excited about the opportunity to study to degree level whilst working and gaining valuable experience, without any of the associated student debt.
